Corinthians brings fans' sound to the Arena even with empty stadium

For the first time in Brazil, virtual experience inserts real time sound and video of 200 fans on the Arena' screens during Corinthians Derby win

Restrictions on the presence of fans imposed by the new coronavirus pandemic was not an obstacle for Fiel Torcida to support Corinthians in the victory over Palmeiras by 1-0, last Wednesday (22), on the return of the Paulista Championship.

An unprecedented initiative in the country placed images of 200 fans on the Arena Corinthians screens, encouraging the team in real time. Throughout the match, the audio of the virtual crowd, with songs and words of encouragement to the team, spread around the stadium's speakers, partially replacing absence of Fiel Torcida.

The action was the pilot for an even bigger initiative planned for the Brazilian Championship, which starts on August 9, when up to 2,000 fans will be connected to the virtual room to give their shout of encouragement and help Corinthians through this stage without audience in the stadiums. The project is led by IBM, a Corinthians’ partner in the technology area, together with Anixter, Leyard and Cisco.

Timão Is Your Home

In another pioneering initiative, Corinthians also placed fans photos in the stadium in the West sector and in a giant flag extended in the North sector, where traditionally stays the members of organized crowd during club's home games.

This action, called Timão is Your Home, allows Corinthians fans to be present at the Arena while the matches are being played behind closed doors until the end of 2020.
