The 21st of April will be considered as the 30th chapter in the Paulista title’s history of Corinthians. There was also an attendance record: 46,481 people were at the Arena for the decisive game. The tifo “Vai para Cima” made by the fans thrilled the stadium.
Led by manager Fábio Carille, Corinthains started this final with: Cássio; Fagner, Manoel, Henrique & Danilo Avelar; Ralf, Ramiro & Sornoza; Pedrinho, Clayson & Gustavo.
In the 30th minute, Ramiro crossed, Hudson tried to clear the ball and Henrique shot, but the ball went out. The Fiel fans got excited.
Without time to breathe, Danilo Avelar rose high to score with his head. It was Corinthians’ goaaaaaaaaaaal!
Avelar is the Corinthians’ second top-scorer this season with five goals - four of them coming in the Paulista.
In the 42nd minute, there was another chance for Corinthians to score: Pedrinho found Fagner who shoot but Thiago Volpi saved.
During injury time, Sao Paulo scored the equalizing goal.
No relevant changes were made for the second half until Cardille replaced Pedrinho with Vagner Love in the 65th minute.
In the 87th minute, Fiel were able to celebrate again. Following a Sornoza pass, Vagner Love scored a great goal - the Paulista Champion winning goal! The three-times champion winning goal, the thirty times Paulista Champions’ goal.
