Corinthians confirmed for Florida Cup 2020

The club will enter competition after winning four years in a row between 2015 and 2018.

Two times world champion, current three times Paulista’ champion and two times Brasileirão champion in the last four editions, Sport Club Corinthians Paulista is back for the Florida Cup in 2020. Timão will participate in this competition for the fifth time, recognising the excellence of the event’s organisation.

Adding high level facilities to commercial opportunities for club’s brand, Corinthians decided to come back to United States for the next pre-season.

Fabio Carille, Corinthians’ manager, who lead Timão to two of the four Florida Cup titles, said: “Participating in Florida Cup is very important for our pre-season.

“We will have three weeks of intense training, with the international games against competitive opponents occurring on the second week.

“It’s a very well-organized tournament, with very strong teams, allowing us to focus on the next season start.

“In the past, it was an experience which allowed us to add value to our season’s preparations and now it has everything to have the same result for 2020.”

“Having Corinthians in Orlando again brings us a lot of joy. It’s a club that for several times pointed out the excellence of Florida Cup organization which lead them to winning seasons in the last years,” said Ricardo Villar, Florida Cup CEO.

“Besides the top level training and match facilities, the event offers different entertainment option to the fans and unique activation opportunities for both clubs and partners.”

Corinthians will join Palmeiras and Atletico Nacional, who were both announced in June. Like the 2019 edition, the 2020 Florida Cup will have four matches at Orlando City’s Exploria Stadium and will take place between January 13-20. The fourth team will be announced in the coming weeks, as well as the schedule.

Besides the four Orlando city matches, fans will have a full entertainment week with the 5V5 legends tournament at the Universal Studios Florida and the performance of star Ivete Sangalo.


Like the 2019 edition, one of the most expected 2020 Florida Cup event is the FC Legends 5V5. The 2020 edition is set for January 16. The event will have some of the biggest football idols that have already played for the Florida Cup clubs and will take place as a playoff, in an arena prepared at the Universal Studios FloridaTM, one of the biggest event partner.

Stars such as Zico, Denilson, Falcão, Raí, Zinho, Edwin Van der Star, Fredi Bobic, Lugano, Caio Ribeiro, Renato Abreu have all taken part in the event. Event organisation and clubs will announce during the next months the idols which will play for their teams at the FC Legends 5V5. Expectation is to have Corinthians and Palmeiras idols will play during the competition.


Travel packages are available for Corinthians fans and can be purchased through the travel agency Invasão Corinntiana ( Club members can have benefits and discounts. Fans can also watch the Florida Cup Legends 5V5, Fan Fest with Ivete Sangalo show and also join the 5K run throughout the Orlando Universal Park.


The biggest international sports event in Central Florida, Florida Cup is already a tradition during January, in Orlando. The city hosted more than 75 million tourists during 2018. During the six Florida Cup years, the event become more than a tournament and is now a global platform combining sports, music and entertainment.

In the 2019 edition, the event received more than 40,000 people and with TV broadcast, fans from 103 countries were able to watch live matches. On social media, content posted on official accounts of the event had a global reach of more than 100 million pople.

So far, 26 clubs participated on Florida Cup: Flamengo, São Paulo, Corinthians, Atlético Mineiro, Fluminense, Vasco da Gama, Bahia, Internacional, Ajax (HOL), PSV Eindhoven (HOL), Eintracht Frankfurt (ALE), Bayer Leverkusen (ALE), Schalke 04 (ALE), Wolfsburg (ALE), FC Köln (ALE), Shakhtar Donetsk (UCR), River Plate (ARG), Estudiantes (ARG), Atlético Nacional (COL), Millonarios (COL), Santa Fé (COL), Barcelona (EQU), Fort Lauderdale Strikers (EUA), Tampa Bay Rowdies (EUA), Rangers FC (ESC) and Légia Varsóvia (POL).
